Dental Implants
We know that the thought of having dental implants can sometimes make people very uncomfortable, however they offer important benefits to our patients.
First and foremost, dental implants cannot develop tooth decay, what this means is that you'll have a healthier mouth long after you get the implant.
Replacing missing teeth with a dental implant requires some sturdy posts, that is because we want them to last a very long time. If you want to replace your missing teeth using a method other than crowns, conventional bridges or dentures, then dental implants may be the solution you are seeking.
Dental
implants are artificial tooth roots that provide a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges, crowns or dentures. These implants allow us to replace missing teeth and provide a stable foundation for the patient with
single or multiple tooth loss. A titanium
cylinder surgically implanted into the bone acts
as an artificial root. Once the healing of
the area has been completed a crown (cap) will
be placed on top of the implant. Implants
are a great alternative for patients with single
tooth loss who do not wish to have any of their
natural healthy tooth structure reduced for
fixed bridgework.
Dental Implant Procedure
When you first consult with us regarding your dental implant procedures we will begin with a thorough analysis of your mouth to determine not only the health of your teeth and gums, but your overall physical condition. We do this procedure to make certain that you have healthy gums and enough bone to support the implanted posts.
As work progresses and on occasion we will work with a periodontist to help determine the placement of dental implants as well as appropriate procedures for your individual situation. Depending on your needs and the outcome of the analysis we can either perform the implants at our office or refer you to a specialist. Getting implants usually requires one to two surgeries and an additional one to two months necessary for the manufacture and fitting of your artificial teeth. During this time and/or process we will contine to make certain you are as heathly as possible.
